Masters 2003

We are all set.  The sight for this year's Boyz Weekend (July 12-13) will be the beautiful Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.  You can access their website at www.turtlebackgolf.com to check out the course for yourself.  We will be staying at the Country Inn in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin.  The Country Inn is across the street from the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake so there will definitely be gambling on the agenda as well.  You can check out the casino if you want at www.stcroixcasino.com as well.

Saturday's tee times start at 11:30 am, and Sunday's tee times start at 10:00 am.  I'm not real sure, but according to Mapquest it is a two hour drive from my house in Savage to the casino in Turtle Lake, and the golf course is another 20 minutes or so east of the casino.  I would plan on a 2 - 2.5 hour ride to the golf course for now until we find out for sure how long a drive it is.

The total cost of Boyz Weekend is $155 and is broken out as follows:
Golf (includes cart and small bag of range balls both days): $85 ($40 for Saturday's round, $45 for Sunday's round)
Hotel (double occupancy non-smoking rooms) $40 (Approx)
Prizes $30 (payable to Wipers)
Keep in mind this does not include dinner Saturday night but does include a continental breakfast Sunday morning. Of course, everyone's going to be a big winner at the casino so it'll be a free weekend for everyone!  :-)

Ray and Kevin.....so far we've had no one cancel.  But keep the weekend open in case someone does cancel.  You're both still alternates.

Tie Breakers
------------------

Arvo and I have made an executive decision that we are going to implement this year regarding ties for both the Singles and Scramble competition.

For Singles: We will have a playoff (if possible) immediately after the Singles round. If we can't arrange this with the golf course management, we'll have a putt-off on the putting green. We'll play as many holes (or putt-off as many times) as necessary until we have a winner. Strokes will be awarded depending on the handicap of the playoff hole(s). No strokes will be awarded if we have a putt-off, it will be straight up.

For Scramble: We will have what I'll call a "scorecard playoff". Here's how it'll work: We'll start with the #1 handicap hole (not hole #1!) and compare scorecards from the actual Scramble round. For example, let's say Team A and Team B both have 4's on the #1 handicap hole. They are still tied, so then we'll go to the #2 handicap hole and so on. Assume Team A had a 4 while Team B had a 5 on this hole. Team A would be declared the winner of the Scramble. As long as everyone knows in advance the format of the playoff and the holes it will start with, it is fair for everyone. Since everyone knows in advance the #1 handicap hole will be the first playoff hole, it should give everyone incentive to do well on this hole.

The decision of The Executive Committee is final.
